The Houdan Chicken is a unique animal that goes through a fascinating process called reproduction. Just like other chickens, the Houdan chicken starts its life cycle as an egg. The mother chicken, known as a hen, lays the eggs. These eggs are then kept warm either by the mother hen sitting on them or by using an incubator. Inside the eggs, a baby chick starts to grow. After about 21 days, the baby chick is ready to hatch from its shell. It uses a special egg tooth on its beak to crack the shell and emerges as a fluffy, cute little chick.
Once the Houdan chicken hatches, it enters the next stage of its life cycle – the growing phase. During this time, the chick grows rapidly and becomes stronger. This stage can take a few months until the chicken is fully grown and mature.
The final stage in the Houdan chicken’s life cycle is adulthood and reproduction. Once the chicken reaches a certain age, it becomes sexually mature and is capable of reproducing. The rooster, the male chicken, will start to crow, and the hens, the female chickens, will start laying eggs. If a rooster mates with a hen, the eggs become fertilized, which means the baby chicks inside can develop into new Houdan chickens.
